Timeline
This timeline will be centered using Jisannic Reckoning, placing Year 0 as the Fall of the Jisannic Empire.
The Jisannic Age
-976: Jisanland overthrows the Mulharandic leaders occupying it, and begins conquering surrounding territory.
-616: Anar Lagaz recognises non-dwarf refugees of Jisannic conquest as full citizens.
-607: Anar Lagaz civil war occurs.
-594: Jirak Mirashu wins Anar Lagaz civil war and founds the Mirashu dynasty, setting in place the laws and traditions still in place today.
-133: Harradian Tribes fully subjugated by Jisanland.
-32: Harradian Uprising occurs, planting the seeds for larger scale rebellions.
0: Jisanland splits into Esterland and Oestorland, though these nations are united in name only. Neither survives their first fifty years in even that.
The Warring States Age
143: The Jade Empire begins trading with nations west of the Roof of the World, trading silks and tea for the gold, wool, and other resources rare in their own territory.
372: First instance of Harradian tribes utilising mercenary Brayherds as raiding partners to crack a more defended region.
512: War between founding nations of the Eostorland Empire necessitates the felling of the Black Forest. The winter migration of the Brayherds takes them by surprise, devastating their undefended, feldgeling logging villages.
The Age of Unification
792: Member-states of the Confederated Empire of Eostorland do the whole "confederating" thing.
847: All major groups of beastkin not already sworn to the Brayherds fully removed from other nations.
965: First Chaos Incursion occurs, a colossal army of Harradian and Brayherds united under the banner of the Great Host with the goal of razing the Eostorland Empire to the ground for the perceived crimes against the people of their groups and the faiths they both follow. Much of the north burns, but many other nations ally with the Empire in the belief that they would be next.
1066: Second Chaos Incursion shatters the Empire of Eostorland into constituent states, with many surrounding nations either refusing to assist the often antagonistic and xenophobic empire or even allying themselves with the Chaos forces. Chuder was one such state, absorbing a large amount of territory from other groups that suffered great political losses during the war.
1074: Anar Lagaz sells a significant portion of surface territory to the Matriarch Phillash Shan'larra, who proceeds to make an extensive surface colony effort.
1096: The capital city of the surface colony is settled, making extensive use of realm-wide magic to blanket the surrounding region in perpetual twilight. Outside of the now central region, this magic is only truly effective over urban areas, and grows less effective the further you travel from the favoured regions.
1099: Now with a defended and defensible foothold, the priesthood took a true interest in the settlement of the surface world, and ordered the systematic takeover of all regions within the high-magic zone. In some cases this would be simple, but in many it made use of heavy destabilisation tactics of the surrounding regions, such as the setting loose of zombie armies, spreading plague, and controlled natural disasters to either force current residents to leave or swear under the power of the new prospective owners.
1111: An aging nation declares war on the Territories, having discovered the hostile takeover.
1114: The war is won to the favour of the Territories, absorbing much of the ailing nation. The region fractures into civil war upon the death of the ruler without a viable heir roughly twenty years later, and is absorbed by surrounding nations.
1118: now heavily established, the Territories claim the surrounding land by any mains necessary, beginning open intimidation, infiltration, and economic browbeating to claim all desired territory peacefully or otherwise.
1131: Onset of the Hundred Years War between the Territories and the Kingdom of Chuder. This becomes a proxy war for much of the surrounding nations, and both sides make frequent use of mercenary bands, which - in combination with the terror tactics and frequent unleashing of ancient horrors by both sides - cements the Paladin Orders of the Chaos Wastes in many other nations. These acts would also bring about the common life of Adventurers, with the now orderless lands as ripe for plundering as it was undefended against the horrors within the Jisanic tombs, wizard towers left abandoned following their pressing into service by the lords they leased from, and the like.
1163: First official expansion of the Paladin Orders into non-Harradian nations.
1234: The Autumn Basin is formed when a mage battle on the Chuder/Deep border spirals out of control, culminating in the calling of a meteor to strike the field. The resulting crater was over one hundred miles wide, and kicked up enough debris that the surrounding regions were pepperred as if by catapult-fire for a whole day afterwards.
1236: The Kingdom of Chuder falls, heavily depopulated by drafting and plague. This opens a power vacuum in the region that extends far beyond the magic-high regions favoured by the Drow Territories, with those once citizens being loyal to themselves first and foremost. These "border lands" left behind have no set government beyond any who can hold it, with the entire region being blanketed by a century of curses and necromantic fallout.
The Age of Shadows
1386: Jade traders and spies inspect Drow silks and spiders via covert operations, and recommend the noble houses of the Empire that trade should be entered instead of economic hostilities.
1427: Trade agreements and limited scholarly exchange formerly ratified between the Drow Surface Territories and the Jade Empire.
